Three pricing models tailored to different needs

By involving us, your lawyers work more effectively, helping to reduce your total legal expenditure, inclusive of our fees. In other words, our fees are offset by the reduced time your lawyers spend on non-legal matters, as well as the discounted rates many law firms offer to our clients.

Hourly Rate in practice

Example A

Individual facing serious criminal charges

Situation
An individual has been charged with a serious criminal offence and has instructed a criminal defence solicitor. Their solicitor refers them to us to help manage the volume of documentation, understand the process, and prepare focused questions ahead of each key meeting with their legal team.
How it works
We estimate 5 hours for the initial onboarding: reviewing the client’s existing documents, organising them into a clear structure, and preparing a list of questions the client wants to raise with their solicitor at their next conference. The client approves the estimate. We complete the work and invoice for the actual hours spent. We do not review the legal merits of the case or advise on strategy — that remains entirely with the solicitor.
Estimated cost
£1,750 + VAT
5 hours at £350
Outcome
The client arrives at their next solicitor conference with organised documents and clear, focused questions making the meeting shorter, more productive, and less costly.
Example B

Complex legal correspondence before mediation

Situation
An individual already in civil litigation receives a lengthy update from their solicitor ahead of a mediation. They find the correspondence difficult to follow and want help understanding what it covers and what they need to think about before the session.
How it works
We estimate 2–3 hours to read through the correspondence with the client, explain what each section covers in plain English, and help the client identify the questions they want to raise with their solicitor before the mediation. We do not advise on whether to settle, what to offer, or how to approach the other side those are matters for the solicitor.
Estimated cost
£700 – £1,050 + VAT
5 hours at £350
Outcome
The client attends mediation having had a clear conversation with their solicitor about their questions focused, informed, and less anxious about the process.

Monthly Retainer in practice

Example A

Business owner referred at the outset of an investigation

Situation
A business owner is under serious criminal investigation by a regulatory authority. Their criminal defence solicitor refers them to us at the very outset so the client is well-supported throughout what is expected to be a lengthy and complex process.
How it works
Because we are engaged from the start, we help the client establish good habits from day one: how to organise and preserve documents, how to communicate clearly with their solicitor, and how to understand each stage of the process as it unfolds. The retainer reflects early engagement and a well-structured case from the outset. All legal advice, strategy, and representation remain with the solicitor.
Estimated cost
£1,500 / month + VAT
Early engagement rate
Why it works
Early involvement means the case is organised from the start. The solicitor receives clear, structured information throughout reducing administrative time and keeping overall legal costs lower.
Example B

Individual referred mid-way through a civil claim

Situation
An individual is referred to us eight months into a significant civil dispute. The volume of documents is considerable, the client is struggling to follow the progress of the case, and their solicitor is spending more time than necessary bringing them up to speed at each stage.
How it works
Joining mid-case requires time to get on top of the existing file: understanding what has happened, organising the documents that exist, and establishing a clear picture of where the case stands. We work through the existing paperwork with the client, help them understand the current position as explained by their solicitor, and put in place a clear system for managing documents and communications going forward.
Estimated cost
£2,200 / month + VAT
Reflects remedial work required
Why it works
Despite the higher monthly rate, the solicitor quickly begins receiving more organised and focused input from the client reducing administrative time and improving the overall efficiency of the legal team.

Hybrid Flexible Retainer in practice

Example A

Business owner awaiting an adjourned trial

Situation
A business owner’s civil trial is adjourned for four months. During this period little activity is expected, but the client remains at risk of unexpected developments such as a new application from the other side or a document request from their solicitor.
How it works
The £1,800 monthly retainer is paused for the four-month waiting period. In month three, the other side makes a procedural application. We help the client understand what their solicitor has told them about it and organise the documents their solicitor needs. That work is billed at £350 per hour (3 hours). The retainer restarts as the trial date approaches.
Estimated cost
£1,050 + VAT
vs £7,200 had the retainer continued — saving over £6,000
Outcome
The client retains full support and responsiveness during a quiet period, paying only for the hours actually worked while the case is dormant.
Example B

Civil claim awaiting a hearing date

Situation
An individual’s case is listed for a hearing in six months. Their solicitor has advised that the interim period is likely to be quiet. The client wants to remain supported if anything arises, but does not want to pay a full retainer through an extended inactive period.
How it works
The retainer is paused for five months. In month four, the other side serves additional documents. We help the client read through what their solicitor has sent, understand what is being said, and organise the documents their solicitor has asked them to locate. That work is billed at £350 per hour (4 hours). The full retainer restarts six weeks before the hearing for the preparation phase.
Estimated cost
£1,400 + VAT
vs £9,000 had the retainer run for five months
Outcome
The flexibility of this model pays for itself many times over during extended waiting periods without compromising on responsiveness when activity returns.

A note on timing

Early engagement always works in your favour

The sooner your solicitor refers you to us or the sooner you get in touch directly the more we can do to keep your case organised from the outset. Cases that are well-structured from day one cost less, run more smoothly, and give your legal team the best possible foundation to work from.
